A polar bear is white and so are his surroundings. Explain how this is an advantage for the polar bear. Compare and contrast the fox in the summer vs. winter. Compare your experience with the blubber glove and the cold water to the walrus in the icy water and explain how he stays warm. Compare and contrast the seal and the walrus. Assessment Strategy Students will locate the Arctic on a globe and color a map of the area. Students will use prior knowledge of triangles to reveal the camouflaged polar bear in its surroundings. Make cottonball polar bear. Students will create a fox with a coat that changes with the seasons. Students will use a blubber glove to experience the effects of blubber in cold water. Students will create a ringed seal and add 3D effects.
