4 The Water Cycle The water on earth is continuously circulated between the atmosphere, the oceans, and the earth

5 Evaporation: the process of converting liquid into vapor or gas

6 Condensation: the process of excess water vapor changing into liquid water when warm air cools

7 Precipitation: moisture that falls to Earth as rain, sleet, hail, or snow

8 Desalination– the removal of salt from seawater to make it usable for drinking

11 Ground Water: water held in the pores of rocks

12 Aquifer: underground water-bearing layers of porous rock, san or gravel

13 Writing Assignment Write a letter persuading companies to invest in constructing a desalination plant in a foreign country that desperately needs freshwater. Make sure to include pros and cons of investing in this venture.
