A culminating assignment
Life in the Colonies A culminating assignment

Life in the Colonies DIRECTIONS: You will create a visual representation of what life was like in the colonies. Information from each of the sub-headings in Chapter 4 must be used. Each sub-heading must be listed with a minimum of one fact from each. YOUR OPTIONS: You may choose from the following to make your visual representation: Maze Game Map Story

MAZE create a fun maze with twists and turns for someone to follow out. At each turn, and or dead end, have a picture representing a fact from the chapter. Or, you may equally use pictures and words to describe facts. The final product should be interesting, difficult (but not impossible to navigate), colorful, and informative.

GAME The game should be like a board game. Think Monopoly. Spaces to move around with each corner representing something grand in colonial life. The spaces between should be colorful and filled with pictures and or written facts from the chapter. The center of the board should reflect an overall understanding of Life in the Colonies through visual representation AND a clever and informative name of the game.

MAP the map should be like a map at an adventure park (Disney, Six Flags, etc.) where it is “cartoonish” with different highlighted features and descriptions. The map would follow along the same set-up as the MAZE, with the exception that all paths lead to a point of interest.

STORY The story component is creating a “children’s” book that blends small amounts of written word and plentiful descriptive pictures to tell the story. In this case, the story does not need to be told over pages, rather scenes that illustrate the 11 aspects of colonial life.
