2 What is Title I? Title I, is the cornerstone of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) , previously known as No Child Left Behind (NCLB), and is the largest federal education program. The intent of Title I is to help ensure that all children have the opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach proficiency on challenging State academic content and performance standards. 

3 Title I - Continued Title I provides federal funding for high-poverty schools to help students who are behind academically and at risk of falling behind.  David Cox Road Elementary receives funding as a result of having greater than 65% of our students qualifying for Free/Reduced price lunch.

4 Title I Continued Title I schools must conduct a comprehensive needs assessment, identify and commit to specific goals and strategies that address those needs, create a comprehensive plan (SIP), and conduct an annual review of the effectiveness of the school-wide program that is revised as needed.

Reading 33.2% Proficient (CCR) – UP4.93% Math 42.0% Proficient (CCR) – UP 10.8% Science 52.0% Proficient (CCR) – UP % 5th Grade Only Composite 39.84% (CCR) – UP 9.74% David Cox made expected growth during the School Year and grew from an overall grade of D to a C. CELEBRATE! We are committed to working to go even higher this year with your help!

AMO – Annual Measurable Objectives North Carolina has set targets for the whole school and the identified subgroups under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. David Cox Road Elementary School met 13 of 13 or 100% of our Annual Measurable Objectives.

15 Working Toward School Improvement
Where are we? School Improvement Plan – Staff Just provided feedback on the SIP Draft to be completed in the coming week. Draft will be approved by the Staff and SLT Draft will be sent to the Board of Education Once approved by the Board of Education, the DRAFT will be uploaded to our school website.
