2. 1. Mobile phone Advantages
Can phone at anytime, no need to find coins for callbox.
Saves having to find call box, which also may be out of use.
Can text a message, if don’t want to be heard.
Take photos. Useful if witness to an incident or an act of crime.
Able to keep up to date with news, without having to find a TV / radio, etc.
Disadvantages
Prone to theft or loss.
May not be able to receive a signal in some areas.
May run out of credits at a vital moment.
Reliant on battery being charged up. High usage, can run out of power quickly.

3. 2. Storage Media – USB portable hard drive (pen drive)
Advantages
Can carry up to the equivalent of 650 floppy disks.
More durable than a floppy disk.
Much easier to carry than a floppy disk.
Attached externally, rather than internally like a floppy. Less chance of damage.
Hold large single data files.
Transfer information between home and school.
Disadvantages
So small, can be easily lost.
Unless backup is made, whole library of information can be lost forever.
Can be stolen easily.
May not be able to use on school computers if security settings are high.

4. 3. Internet - email Advantages Arrives at destination immediately.
No cost.
Attach images and music files.
Saves having to pay for envelopes and stamps.
Work can be transferred home, without having to physically carry it. No worry about losing it.
Disadvantages
Relies on initial cost of purchasing computer and ISP rental (although free if at school).
Can be some restrictions on file sizes.
If ISP connection is down, unable to use.
Receiver may not open immediately.

5. 4. Data capture – Digital Camera
Advantages
Take several hundred pictures - able to erase.
No need to keep buying film.
Able to view image immediately.
Able to transfer image to PC and edit.
Take pictures for inclusion in school work. Good for pictures of Textiles products.
Able to use as webcam and shoot movies also.
High quality images.
Disadvantages
Images can be accidentally erased. On conventional camera, images stored on film, difficult to lose.
