1 Junior Year Top 3 Tips

2 One: Focus on Your Grades
Your GPA is important! Don’t get Junioritis – many of you are in AP or more advanced classes this year – show that you are building responsibility and can balance your classes and other commitments. Find a support system – friends and family members who encourage you in your grades and completing your classwork on-time. If you need organization or motivation tips, come to the Burris counseling center!

3 Two: Be Involved! Clubs Sports Community/Church organizations
Keep track of your hours! Look for Leadership positions

4 Three: Take the SAT or ACT
You will start filling out college/training program applications right at the beginning of next year, and you will need these scores to be able to submit you applications. Mrs. Milligan will continually question you next year until you take the SAT or ACT The scores will go onto your Burris transcript, so colleges and scholarships will be able to see your scores. It helps prepare you for college!

5 Extra Credit Tip: Visit college campuses!
Juniors are allowed 2 days off of school to visit college campuses. Burris Seniors are allowed 3 days off to visit college campuses. Senior year is a little late to be visiting campuses – most early college applications are by November 1st. Visit now! The Burris Counseling Center received a grant to be able to offer more bus college trips this year – look for information on that second semester! (any colleges you would be interested in visiting?)
