1) It`s probably the monster. “Impossible speed” means it probably isn’t a common animal, this is supposed to give the readers a clue

He felt guilty and responsible for Williams death. “his folly” “his hands” “he” = he has shifted all of the blame on himself
Self-recrimination = blaming oneself

The results of their actions are the same, so his father feels like he has lost two sons.
“To the same murderer” = because the reason victor is in his room is the murder, so the murderer has stolen all of Victor`s time and energy (he is all victor thinks about)
