13 A Quick Guide to the M4 Lottery Logic Maximum Number of Selections
The Lottery program takes all students participating in the lottery and randomizes them. It then takes student #1 and takes the first priority selection on the list. Is there an opening for this specific rotation, date and site? If yes, it assigns that opening to student #1. It not, it looks at the next selection on the list (in priority order). This is repeated until student #1 has one course assigned. Once a course is assigned to student #1, the application moves to the next student and repeats this until every student has 1 course assigned. Following the completion of each single selection assignment, all students are re-randomized before assignment selections are repeated. This is repeated until all selections for all students have been processed. If after going through every selection for a student and finding no openings the system will move to the next student without making an assignment for that student. So, it is important to enter enough preference-choices to find a match. Prerequisites Medicine and Pediatric Sub-I have prerequisites. You must pay particular attention to these course prerequisites when making your selections. If you fail to fulfill prerequisite requirements for these courses, your slot may be subsequently vacated by OSA. Maximum Number of Selections You may have up to a maximum of 250 course/start date/locations preference-choices on your rank list.
