This will need to be returned to the consortium- We will capture school responses online. This needs to be completed by all schools before February Half-Term. This will help to provide a baseline to inform regional support and the professional learning offer. Schools also need to be proactive in using the support available and seeking support from existing networks and consortia. For the second part of the session, please take schools through the document: Creating the climate for change: Curriculum for Wales in the Central South Consortium: Possible Engagement Activities. These are SUGGESTED and not an exhaustive list. They are there as a support for schools towards the new curriculum. Your own experiences and journey will be useful here.

17 Inquiry Activity: Pedagogy
Choose approach here… In this part of the session, pioneers will need to facilitate a discussion around readiness for inquiry. The Research and Inquiry toolkit will provide some materials to support this. You can choose one of the two options outlined in the pioneer network meeting and the materials for this will be placed in the hwb network. As a group, you can decide whether schools wish to Focus on the possible engagement activities only Focus on how to carry out an inquiry and do some ‘training’ as a group around this- the materials from the sessions will help this Work collaboratively with all schools in the SIG/Pioneer group to carry out an inquiry, thus instigating some paired/triad work Work on an inquiry in their own settings, taking their own schools through the process With inquiry work, it is important that constant links are made to the Professional Teaching Standards, the Professional Learning Passport and the Schools as a Learning Organisation.

18 Next Steps: Sessions 2/3 These sessions will be dependent on each group’s agreed readiness. It is not mandatory to meet as a group - this is at the discretion of schools These could be used an opportunity for school teams to discuss ‘preparedness’ using the Readiness Tool

Any new items from the National Approach can be given during this session Core activities Feedback from the engagement tool- it will be too early for this to be completed again but pioneers can instigate discussions around the needs of schools going forward as identified from the tool. This will need to be feedback to the consortia to inform support packages. Progress on school readiness What has changed? What steps have schools made? What have been the learning points? What next? Progress with inquiry Discussion of learning to date; or start discussions about schools considering the use of inquiry- this is dependent on the position of schools
