At rechartering, every registered leader must be current 72 hour is cumulative for any event. i.e. Can’t leave camp for a couple hours or a day and then return and reset the clock Good for two years (until it isn’t ) New reporting requirements “Assigning youth members more than two years apart in age to sleep in the same tent should be avoided unless the youth are relatives.”

5 What’s New (Con’t) Effective the 2018 BSA summer camp season, any adult accompanying a Boy Scout troop to a residence camp or other Scouting activity lasting 72 hours or more must be registered as a leader, including completion of a CBC [criminal background check] and YPT, even if they are the parent of a youth on the trip Tip: Position Code 91, “Scouter Reserve” will preclude any additional position-specific training requirements—but then again, why not fill a real need!
