AIS – using the right tools to identify AIS, but some at risk students still did not pass The assessment was longer in grades 3,5 and 7(3rd graders needing to read and answer questions on 7 timed passages) Students need more stamina and practice to complete the tasks

20 Impact on At Risk Students
At the very same time NYS was raising the bar, asking more of at risk students, we stopped extending the students’ school day and academic school year.

21 The Plan Professional Development Implementation of RTI -NWEA
Promote more writing across the curriculum-Utilize in house and outside expertise Differentiated Instruction vs Differentiated Expectations Aligning curriculum with Common Core Standards-Depth vs. Breadth Look for ways to give additional support to at risk students

22 How Long Island High Schools Score on College Prep Indicators
The State Department of Education on June 14th released district-by-district data on high school seniors in the Class of 2010. This chart of Long Island districts with high schools shows the percentage of students graduating high school; the percentage of students earning a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, which requires completion of more rigorous coursework; and the percentage of students reaching what the State says is a college-preparedness performance level, by scoring 80 or higher on the Regents math exam and 75 or higher on the Regents English exam. Education officials say the earning of a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation is another indicator of college preparedness.
