1 Recognizing Your Values

2 Instrumental Values Something that is important for acquiring something else, such as money.

3 Intrinsic Values Something that is important in and itself

4 Moral Values Values that help you judge right and wrong

5 Values The thoughts, ideas, and actions that are important to you and which you use to gauge or evaluate the people and things in your life.

6 Work Related Values Values that define how you like to work and the results that you produce.

Creativity Physical activity Independence Good salary Job security Work environment Leadership opportunities Prestige Challenge Work Safety Variety Working with people Thinking Others????

8 Activity#1 Your values are not constant, they have and they will continue to change. Give an example of how a value you once had has changed. What are some factors that might that might cause you to change your values in the future.

9 Activity#2 Based on your values, prioritize the work values by ranking them from the most to least important for you. What are two examples of careers/jobs that match the priority list you arrived at above.

Give 3 examples of standards from each of the following School Parents You own Give an example where a value and standards of your school conflicts with your own; your parents and your own. Suggest compromises to resolve each of these conflicts.
