1 HELP KEEP ANTIBIOTICS WORKING
- NOVEMBER KIDS FLU VACCINES HELP KEEP ANTIBIOTICS WORKING Children aged 2, 3 or 4 years are also eligible for a free nasal flu vaccination on the NHS. Please enquire at reception to book an appointment. School children in reception and up to year 4 are offered the vaccine for free at school. Antibiotics are used to treat or prevent some types of bacterial infection. They work by killing bacteria or preventing them from reproducing and spreading. But they don’t work for everything. When it comes to antibiotics, take your doctor’s advice. Antibiotics don't work for viral infections such as colds and flu, and most coughs and sore throats. Many mild bacterial infections also get better on their own without using antibiotics. Taking antibiotics when you don’t need them puts you and your family at risk of a longer and more severe illness. FLU REMINDER WINTER PROVISION FOR ROUGH SLEEPERS We currently have a drop in service from 2pm – 6pm, Mon – Fri. If you know someone who is housebound and requires the flu vaccine, please let reception know so we can arrange one of our nurses to visit them. DROP IN CLINIC Bury Council have made a commitment to provide winter provision for all rough sleepers in the streets in Bury. From 1st November 2018 – 31st March 2019 they will provide a bed for the night, food, warm drinks, and support in accessing more permanent housing. Enquire at reception for more details. If you are due for a pill check or depo injection the surgery is holding a drop in clinic on Wednesday 21st September from 2.30pm – 4.20pm for anything regarding you contraceptive health. NOTEABLES CARE NAVIGATORS COPD Awareness Month Movember Lung Cancer Awareness Month Pancreatic Awareness Month 14th World Diabetes Day Our reception team have recently undergone training funded by the Bury CCG to become fully fledged care navigators. This means when you call for an appointment with the GP the receptionist will ask for a brief reason for the call. This will help direct you to the most appropriate service, i.e. a Pharmacy, Dentist, Optician, Midwife etc. This care navigation scheme is to help manage demand for GP appointments by providing information to patients about alternative services, this can help free up hundreds of GP appointments.
