2 ~Vocabulary~ Wave energy - The energy in the mountain of the wave.
Backwash - A backward flow of water. Destructive Waves - A high strong wave with a strong back wash that erodes material after it breaks causing the beach to deteriorate. Constructive Waves - A wave that deposits material after it breaks building up a at beach.    Barrier Islands- A long, narrow island running parallel to the shoreline, built up by the action of the waves. Breakwaters and Seawalls- Structures built by humans to prevent erosion of a shoreline. Reservoir- A human-made lake behind a dam.

3 ~How Waves Help The Land~
Wind and water deposit sand and make islands called "Barrier Islands". These islands have sandy beaches that make them popular with tourists.

4 ~How Waves Harm The Land~
Tsunamis can harm the land and the beach because of high sea level. The same water wind and ice that make the barrier islands can also threaten people. Big storms of the coast can cause raging waves to tear through towns. Big waves in the middle of the ocean can cause ships to sink or have oil spills .
