aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position.

3 uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response

4 Used to shape perceptions

5 And to direct behavior to achieve a desired response

6 Appeals were made to a sense of patriotism

7 And were used to encourage men to enlist…

8 Or to get people to support the war effort in other ways.

9 Often Propaganda posters would appeal to specific groups of people.

11 Propaganda often appealed to nationalist or imperialist sentiments.

12 Propaganda also makes good use of symbols (like the eagle in this picture)…

13 and archetypes such as the hero figure…

14 And the stereotyped villain.

15 Propaganda was not limited to just posters…
