4. Not everyone speaks your language
Never assume someone understands the acronyms – spell them out
Slow down
Read people’s faces. Do they look confused? If they do ask them? If your audience does not understand you then they won’t take action or remember what you said.

6. Text – less is more, font size people
You want your slides to be engaging and memorable. You also want people to listen to you.
If your slide is full of small text people will stop listening to you to try and read what is on the screen. Keep details to the notes section of your powerpoint – this is a great place to explain in more details

People are visual
It is estimated that about 65% of the global population are visual learners. 30% are auditory learners and 5% are kinesthetic
If you don’t have your own graphics to help illustrate your point, look on websites like Unsplash for free images (please always use credits)
Make sure that any image you use that you credit where it is from and if it can be reused and how.

Time, time, time (20mins is perfect, this is the attention span of an adult)
Leave time for questions
Be on time – there are other presenters and you will lose your audience’s attention if you go for too long and annoy other presenters if they do not get enough time because of your presentation
Usually about 1 min per slide is a good rule
