How to get a good score on your individual print

2 Carve away about half of the block- remember what you carve will be the paper color- what you leave will print. Reference image: Relief print: notice how positive and negative space are about even-

3 Excellent design and quality relief print
Reference image: This color contrast creates a great visual tension. The printing ink is clean on the edges, even and controlled.

4 Consider color ink and paper to get strong contrast.
Reference image: Black paper creates a striking contrast with light value printing inks

5 Individual Relief Block Print
Grade Sheet: Individual Relief Block Print needs work to excellent Criteria: black on white, carved with ½ positive ½ negative space signed and numbered correctly 1 2 3 4 Creativity: carving and design should show some risks and originality Craftsmanship: overall carving, evenly inked, clean print Effort On Time Total / 20

6 Editioning a print: Sign just below the print- not on the inked area
Use pencil- sign your name below and to the right of the print Add a fraction with the top number being the # print this print represents- the bottom # is the total- estimate- in the series for this lesson usually around 50 prints
