Hand or Machine stitching techniques are often used by textile artists to record observations or to OUTLINE shapes on fabric.; Cas Holmes and Anne Kelly sew outlines of birds and plants onto mixed media backgrounds. Louise Gardiner and Rosie James use machine stitching to OUTLINE the images of people involved in everyday activities.
