6 Chassis vs. Stackable Solutions
A chassis based switch has slots in which blades are inserted to add more functionality. These units share the same power supply and are typically upgraded by changing blades. A stackable switch is a fully functional standalone that can also be set up to operate in a stack which adds redundancy. These units are lower in cost and are typically upgraded by replacement. 7 Committee Decision Assumptions
10 Gbps / 10 Gbps / 20 Gbps solution focus Stackable solution for affordability Maintain ONE consortium Capital reserve at 10% or greater Select device that may act as local district core router as well Select solution that may allow OS to support local network Select solution with most redundancy (affordable) Select solution that provides complete training Select solution that has strong maintenance partner ONE & Network Management Solutions # 2/23/2019
