Objective: Evaluate numerical expressions using the order of operations.

3 Order of Operations The expression 6+4×3 is called a numerical expression. To evaluate (or solve) numerical expressions, you must use order of operations. First solve the operations inside the Parenthesis. Evaluate all exponents/powers. Multiply and Divide from left to right. Add and Subtract from left to right.

4 Examples: 5 + (12 - 3) 8 – 3 × 2 + 7 14 + 3(7-2) 5 ×
