2 Research Ethics American Psychological Association’s 4 basic principles: Informed consent: researchers must tell participants about the general nature of the research & any potential risks involved.

3 Research Ethics American Psychological Association’s 4 basic principles: Protected from harm/discomfort: researchers must tell participants of potential harm. Participants must be allowed to leave at any time.

4 Research Ethics American Psychological Association’s 4 basic principles: Confidentiality: researchers must not release data about identities of participants.

5 Research Ethics American Psychological Association’s 4 basic principles: Debriefing: researchers must fully explain the research and what the participants’ involvement was after the experiment is done (especially if deception was involved). They must offer a copy of the results.
