3. Multicultural Novels
Multicultural literature reflects only literature by or about people of color. In its broadest definition, multicultural literature is defined as encompassing the multitude of cultural groups in the United States and the rest of the world.

4. The Namesake Author – Jhumpa Lahiri
In The Namesake, Lahiri explores this tug between the two worlds – the Indian world and the American one. That exploration is based in part on her own experiences growing up in America as the child of Indian immigrants. Her fictional counterpart is Gogol Ganguli, who comes of age over the course of the novel and comes to terms with his complicated, multicultural identity.

Tells the story of 4 Chinese women and their 4 American children. They all have different perspectives on life, and their perspectives are shown throughout different chapters in the novel.
