Professional Certificate in Strategic Change Management Understanding and Demonstrating Assessment Criteria This is the professional certificate element to all ICPS training programmes. The qualification is in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). It is ultimately a Management and Leadership qualification with a specific focus to your work in the Health industry. This specific qualification is level 7 out of a possible 8 levels with the CMI, which translates to a Masters level module. The CMI is an internationally recognised awarding body and some Universities accept the qualification as an additional to their courses. It is good for personal and professional development and will look great on you resume. This is not a compulsory part of attending this course but you WILL need to complete the two assignments in order to achieve the professional certificate in Strategic Health Planning. Delegates have to make a well-judged decision as to whether they have the time to complete the assignments before they register.
2
This session is… To ensure you understand the criteria by which the two CMI assignments will be assessed To outline the two assignment tasks To enable you to reflect and decide (in due course) the best way for you to take forward the two assignments. Two assignments need to be completed to achieve the certificate. The criteria is outlined in the following slides. You must cover all the criteria to complete the Certificate.

CMI Criteria In addition to the specific assessment criteria in each unit, the learner’s work must be: accurate, current and authentic relevant in depth and breadth and must also show the learner’s: clear grasp of concepts ability to link theory to practice, and ability to communicate clearly in the relevant discipline at the expected level for the qualification Knowledge: Accurate and current, Relevant in depth and breadth Understanding: Clear grasp of concepts, Ability to link theory to practice Skills: Ability to communicate clearly in the relevant discipline at a professional level NB need to ensure that where other work is quoted it is quoted and referenced. Harvard reference is: Use the title page, not the book cover, for the reference details. Only include the edition where it is not the first. A book with no edition statement is most commonly a first edition. The required elements for a book reference are: Author, Initials., Year. Title of book. Edition. (only include this if not the first edition) Place of publication (this must be a town or city, not a country): Publisher. Reference where 1st edition Baron, D. P., Business and the organisation. Chester: Pearson.where 3rd editionRedman, P., Good essay writing: a social sciences guide. 3rd ed. London: Open University in assoc. with Sage .An intext reference for the above examples would read: Organisations have been found to differ (Baron, 2008) when there is …Leading social scientists such as Redman (2006) have noted …

Plagiarism and Authenticity
Signed statement of Authenticity “I formally declare that the work contained in this written assignment is all my own, and that it has been researched and written by me based solely on my professional experience, the content of the training seminar provided by ICPS, and the tutorial provided by ICPS on understanding and completing CMI assignments”. This statement needs to be copy and pasted onto the title page along with the delegate’s name, title and word count

Structure Structure: An Example
Title page [name, declaration of authenticity, word count] Contents and appendices Acknowledgements Glossary of terms and abbreviations Statement of terms of reference Executive summary Introduction and background Main body of the investigation / project [use CMI criteria as sub-headings] Conclusions Recommendations Appendices Bibliography. Glossary of terms and abbreviations are important as the CMI assessors are not experts in Health Planning and all its termologies. Executive summary Introduction and background [Some explanation of current context and the organisation you work for, rationale for project, aim scope, objectives] Main body of the investigation / project [Methodology (approach to what you did, how you went about it, Your Analysis of the Issues, ] Conclusions [Must flow from rest of project] Recommendations [What I believe should now be done – must be consistent with conclusions] Difference between conclusions and recommendations: “A conclusions is a summary as well as the implications of the report. To give a very simple example: if you found that caffeine drinkers were more irritable, more frequently sad and more neurotic, you would summarise these finding and then say this implies that caffeine has a negative effect on people's mood.A recommendation is what you believe should be done in future research to clarify the results, as well as where you believe a solution to a problem might be. So, to use the same example again you might say: It is recommended that future research focuses more on the differences in mood that caffeine effect when taken in varying amounts in order to clarify the extent to which caffeine has a negative effect. If future research continues to find what this and other studies have alluded to, it may be useful to address the issue more actively by raising awareness for caffeine drinkers

Some Thoughts To get started it may help to:
Write down all ideas, then structure later Then: Check ideas cover all criteria Edit repeatedly! We strongly recommend all attendees to write down their ideas for the assignments now while they are fresh in their minds. Then they can refer back to them when they are ready./

Who would you need to convince? How would you present to your intended audience? Justify the approach you’re using. 4.2 Could write a whole essay on this and what happens if you haven’t got the results by the time of hand-in? It’s just a plan. You need to convince the CMI that you will get these results. How would you deal with any resistance/obstacles to this plan? 4.3 Evaluation plan How are you going to monitor and evaluate the results in order to know it has made a difference?

Once you have reflected and decided you definitely will do the assignments – please register via Registration should be as soon as you are sure you will do the assignments within 4 months After registration, ICPS will send you the final version of the task (CMI periodically update the criteria) with a deadline of four months to complete both assignments. Aim to produce drafts that you can send for feedback as soon as possible. Delegates have 4 months from the last day of the course to decide if they want to register for the assignments. To register – they need to send an to saying – “I attended XXXX course in LOCATION on DATE. I would like to register myself to the CMI qualification process” They will then get a response confirming all the CMI criteria is still current and up to date. From the date of registration they have 4 months to complete both assignments. We strongly advise they send full drafts of both assignments, to the address above, well in advance of the deadline so that they can receive detailed point by point feedback from ICPS before submission. They can have a few rounds of feedback, as long as they are full drafts!! ICPS will then inform the delegate when their assignments are complete and ICPS will submit and deal with the CMI on behalf of the delegate. ICPS will then inform the delegate if they’ve successfully met the CMI assessors standards and will then ask for an address to send the certificate to. All this communication between the delegates and ICPS will be done through the address.
