8 “Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past
“Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past. Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19 (Amp.)

9 “.. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” (John10:10 messg.)

10 What can cause us to settle for less?
“The Pioneers” 1. Allowed the challenges of the journey to become bigger than their faith.

11 What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.. (Heb.11:1 NLT)

12 As Christians if we allow the challenges of our journey with Jesus to become bigger than our faith we will settle for less than Gods best for us.

13 2.Allowed their feeling to overshadow their faith
As Christians if we allow our feelings to overshadow our faith we will settle for less than Gods best for us.

14 3.Allowed the wrong people to influence their faith
As Christians if we allow the wrong people to influence our faith, we will settle for less than God’s best for us.

15 What will keep us from settling for less: “Caleb”
But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it (Num.14:24)

16 3.He choose to forgive and focus on God’s promises
1.He saw challenges as stepping stones to God’s promises 2. He refused to allow his feelings to rob him of God’s promises 3.He choose to forgive and focus on God’s promises

17 He could have become bitter towards those who caused this problem but he didn’t
He chose to forgive and focus on God’s promises for his future. Result?

18 “. I am eighty-five years old
“.. I am eighty-five years old. I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then. So I’m asking you to give me the hill country that the Lord promised me.

19 You will remember that as scouts we found the Anakites living there in great, walled cities. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.” (Josh.14:10-12)

20 Becoming better in our Christian walk requires that we learn not to settle for less than Gods best for us
