“The Courage To Follow Your Calling”

From one man he (God) made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live Acts 17:26

For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone Romans 14:7

See to it that no one misses the grace of God Hebrews 12:15

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received Ephesians 4:1

How Do I Follow My Calling? Caleb EVEN IF I’M SCARED 1. I must believe I can do it, _____________________.

They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. 28 But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan. Numbers 13:27-29

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” Numbers 13:30

If the LORD is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. 9 Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them.” Numbers 14:8-9

How Do I Follow My Calling? Caleb 2. I must be willing to reject _____________________. NEGATIVE ADVICE

All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert! 3 Why is the LORD bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” Numbers 14:2-3

But the whole assembly talked about stoning them. Then the glory of the LORD appeared at the Tent of Meeting to all the Israelites Numbers 14:10

How Do I Follow My Calling? Caleb 3. I must believe it is _____________________. NEVER TOO LATE

“Now then, just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the desert. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! 11 I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. 12 Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.” Joshua 14:10-12

How Do I Follow My Calling? Timothy 1. I must develop the _____________________. GIFTS GOD GAVE ME

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.; Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress 1 Timothy 4:12; 14-15

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:6-7

How Do I Follow My Calling? Timothy 2. I must refuse to be ______________. DISTRACTED

Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. 1 Timothy 4:16

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21 which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you 1 Timothy 6:20-21

How Do I Follow My Calling? Timothy 3. I must give God my ______________. VERY BEST

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses 1 Timothy 6:12

What was the impact of Timothy? “I have no one else like him.” Paul, Philippians 2:20

What was the impact of Caleb? Because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it. God, Numbers 14:24
