3 Asia Europe began exploring in Asia during the 1600s
Started by Portugal looking for an easy route to Asia. Wanted spices, silks and porcelains, and other rare luxuries Europeans found advanced and powerful nations in Asia and treated Asians as equals. Trading posts were set up along the coasts. First in India. Trade benefited Europe and Asia.. Sent missionaries to convert Asians to Christianity. Asians returned to isolationism.
