2 Lesson 1 – Geography What is the name of the Region that we
are studying? What does the name mean? What 2 rivers lie at the outsides of the region?

3 Identify the advantages and the disadvantages of the rivers –
Define a drought - How did erosion affect the land of Mesopotamia? The Mesopotamians were advanced in their Farming techniques. Describe their watering system.

4 Lesson 2 Sumer The Sumerians were famous for inventing World changing ideas. Describe 4 and tell how they changed the world. Analyze Sumer’s schools. Was their way the best way to educate a society? Why or why not?

5 What is a city-state? Give an example
Summarize the Mesopotamian religion. Include what they believed and where they worshipped. Who united the Mesopotamians for the first time? Describe the life of the people of Sumer.

6 Timelines What does B.C. stand for? What does A.D. stand for?
How long is a decade? How long is a century?

7 Lesson 3 – Code of Law How did Hammurabi control the waterways?
Evaluate the code of law. Was it a fair way to govern the Ancient World? Compare aqueducts to irrigation canals.

8 Lesson 4 – The Birth of Monotheism
After the death of Hammurabi, Mesopotamia experienced some major changes. The biggest was the change of Religious practices. Monotheism became a new practice for many Mesopotamians.

9 Abraham and God Abraham made a covenant, or an agreement with God.
He led the people from Caanan to Egypt to escape a time of hunger. Little did he know they would spend several years in slavery.

10 Moses Was born a Hebrew – raised as an
Egyptian. Pharaoh put out a decree that all Hebrew baby boys should be killed. The Bible says that Moses’ mother placed him in a basket and sent him down the river to the Pharaoh’s palace. The Pharaoh’s daughter found him and raised him as an Egyptian. Moses grew up thinking he was an Egyptian.

11 Moses Killed an Egyptian soldier who was beating
a Hebrew and then fled to Midian. Returned to Egypt and pleaded with the Pharaoh to release his people. Led the people to freedom and wrote the Ten Commandments.
