2 Two years to make a difference
The 1000 Lives Campaign is aiming to save an additional 1,000 lives and to avoid up to 50,000 episodes of harm in Welsh healthcare between 21 April 2008 and 21 April 2010.

4 What’s been achieved? Reductions in hospital mortality A focus on harm

5 And we have learned about creating change
Develop integrated solutions Patient centred High quality, safe and effective care Clinical and managerial leadership Staff involvement at all levels

6 Clinician Involvement
Outcome focus Local interpretation Measurement and peer contest/learning Visible leadership which understands, facilitates, and is consistent

7 Greenhalgh criteria It must have clear relative advantage
It must have compatibility with the user’s values and ways of working Complexity must be minimised Users will adopt more readily if innovations allow trialability There must be observability, that is it must be seen to deliver benefit Reinvention is the propensity for local adaptation
