1 OWNERSHIP "THOU SHALL NOT STEAL"

2 God is creator, God is giver.
God created man in His image and likeness. He created all things: the universe, the earth, the resources... He created for us things: To use To enjoy To appreciate To share

3 but what you are. but what you are.
Be not anxious about what you have, but what you are. Be not anxious about what you have, but what you are. - Blessed John Paul II

4 L I F E What has God given you?
Faith.... Clothing . . Food Family.... Education Friends Skills Shelter. . . Freedom . . L I F E You might ask... Why has God given me these things, and others are without? Why has God given others things that I do not have?

5 We share in one mission " There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work." Corinthians 12

6 WE ARE ONE BODY "If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body... ...that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it...." -1 Corinthians 15-26

7 Ownership Nearly everything around you is owned by someone or some group.... Who owns . . . . . . the desk you are sitting at? . . . the streets? . . . your house? . . . electricity? . . . food? . . . your school? What are some other things you use everyday, but you don't own? What are things your parents own that you use?

8 Our Rights . . . Everyone has the right to own property and to have their property safe from theft, damage, and destruction. These rights are protected by the 7th Commandment: Thou Shall Not Steal.

9 What does this mean? We must respect the property of others.
We cannot: Take our use things without permission Damage or destroy property Illegally download or copy something against the owners purpose Cheat on our work Borrow money with intentions not to pay back Claim to own something that is not ours Sell something that is not ours Accept anything that is stolen (even if we did not steal it) Borrow things we don't intend to return

10 Borrowing & Lending We borrow things all the time! It is important to remember to take care of things we borrow, and treat them with great respect. We must also return them in the time we promised. It is a great act of charity to lend your things to help a neighbor. How do we feel when someone damages something we loan them? What are things we often borrow? What would happen to the library if everyone spilled on and ripped the books? What would happen if no one returned their items to the library? What if the DVDs everyone rented became scratched?

18 Transformation In the beginning of the film, was there something stolen from the people in the show? Did they experience justice in the way they were treated? In what ways did the characters practice fortitude? What did the butterfly circus share with Willy? How did the Butterfly Circus share with the world? After receiving "new life", how was Willy able to "give back" ? How would their lives be different if none of them received charity?
