3 Why Aren’t More Women in Real Estate Leadership?
The EDGE Information and news that gives you an edge in the real estate business Why Aren’t More Women in Real Estate Leadership? A new Inman News survey shows that qualified professionals are waiting in the wings for promotion opportunities. The majority of respondents (70 percent) to the survey, entitled “Does real estate have a gender problem?” were women. Among female respondents, 40 percent said they would like to be top executives someday. Seventy percent of female respondents felt women had the same opportunities in their organization as men. However, 25 percent of female participants think they have fewer opportunities, compared to less than three percent of men who agreed women are at a disadvantage. Nearly 40 percent of women felt that their gender had led to them missing out on a promotion, compared to 10 percent of men who reported the same. Read more about this survey on Inman News Select.

4 Houston Market Movements
The EDGE Information and news that gives you an edge in the real estate business Houston Market Movements Housing starts across the U.S. may have fallen for the second month in a row, but the cause appears to be an abnormally large decline in the multifamily category. An increase in single-family starts and building permits is a better indicator of a market reacting positively to the prevailing inventory struggle. In the Houston region, for the week ending October 16: • New Listings increased 2.1% to 2,365 • Pending Sales increased 26.9% to 1,747 • Closed Sales decreased 7.9% to 1,252
