2 Challenge & Perseverance
The Georgia Performance Standards Challenge & Perseverance A little bit about ME! I love the great outdoors! Running on the trails at the mountain, competing in adventure races and laughing is what makes me "ME. I believe life is full of choices so.... I CHOOSE WELL!  I am currently pursing my Specialist degree as an educational technology coach. I should graduate at the end of July, if everything goes as planned.   Implications for Gifted Students

(Intro to Target Thinking Skills) along with a literature study on “Leonardo Da Vinci”. 5th Grade: Inventure Unit & continue our discoveries using the gifted standards Our focus is a “mixed bag” Differentiated with your child’s unique giftedness in mind Designed with standards in mind Core curriculum /Georgia Performance standards ALP standards Implications for Gifted Students

The Georgia Performance Standards Gifted Standards: Cognitive Growth Standards Convergent & Divergent Thinking Convergent Thinking: Using deductive and inductive reasoning to determine the ONE right answer. Divergent Thinking: F2OE: Integrating Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and elaboration into our work samples and thinking. Implications for Gifted Students

The Georgia Performance Standards Gifted Standards continue Affective Growth Strand Communication Collaboration Respect for Others Self-Reflection Self-Directed Learner The affective lessons are designed to enhance social and emotional awareness of oneself and others. Our Affective begins with “What IS a TARGET COMMUNITY?” Then progresses to implementing the “Leader in Me Habits”, and onto learning the advantages of a growth mindset. Lastly, we focusing on bettering our self goals. Implications for Gifted Students

10 Class Schedule 1st Grade Students: Mondays
The Georgia Performance Standards Class Schedule 1st Grade Students: Mondays Pick-up begins at 8:10 Bahrville lunch time at 12:12 (be sure to provide a healthy snack) Attend ‘specials’ with their homeroom classes Dismiss to homerooms around 1:45 5th Grade Students: Tuesdays Bell to bell (7:15-2:15) Bahrville lunch time at 12:12 (be sure to provide a healthy snack) Dismiss from Bahrville Gifted students should not be expected to make up missed regular classroom work or homework on scheduled Target day. Students will use their Healthy Habits to write down all ALP homework. Implications for Gifted Students

Come to class prepared: ALP binder, snack, and lunch Homework fully completed and IN the Homework section of the ALP binder Sign Healthy Habit sheet If absent on an ALP day: picks up the make-up work upon return to school and completed by our next ALP day (We Missed You work) Implications for Gifted Students

There was homework? Students will write their homework on their Healthy Habits paper & I share it on the Bahrville Gifted Gator Snippet. To ensure you receive my Snippet, please me your address to and type your child’s name in the comments. There is usually ALP homework, but occasionally there will be days without ALP homework. To help ensure mastery of the standards and skills, I highly suggest completing the classroom homework or reviewing skills taught in both ALP and the homeroom class.. Implications for Gifted Students

The Georgia Performance Standards Bahrville’s Example of Healthy Habit’s form Our behavior form Follows the Leader in Me Habits , also the second grade affective curriculum. Reminders of positive behavior is provided before a check is earned on the habit sheet. Each check earns 3 laps around the playground. Implications for Gifted Students

ALP Progress Reports *One Progress Report at the end of each semester If necessary- A Quarterly Feedback Report will be provided S = Successful (meeting expectations independently & consistently) P = Progressing (meeting expectations with support and/or inconsistently) D = Does not Meet Expectations In regards to the Progress Report evaluations: S= Successful (consistently and independently), P= Progressing (with support), D= Does not meet (limited progress). Please note, S for Success is given when a student is consistently and independently meeting the expectations of the skill being taught.  Implications for Gifted Students

The Georgia Performance Standards Healthy Habits sheet Gifted Gator Snippet s Progress Reports My Blog for an overview of standards The many ways I stay communicate with you!   Please be sure to look at your child’s Healthy Habit’s sheet each ALP night. The Choices your child made during the day will be known on this paper. Be sure to keep it in their binder, in the designated section.   There is quarterly and annually review based on our continuation criteria.  Implications for Gifted Students
