1 BSAB Self-Neglect Conference

2 Risk Assessment Multi-Agency Panel (RAMP)
Pilot project up to March 2018 under the name of Risk Assessment Management Panel. Name change to include multi agency element and to ensure that practitioners are aware that the panel does not take ownership of cases but provides a risk assessment and advice/guidance to professionals working with service users and carers who present with complex needs and risks.

3 Who can go to RAMP. Residents of Buckinghamshire who have Care and Support needs. Care Act 2014 – introduction of broader concept of neglect. Have a lead professional. Aged 18 and over. Person has consented to referral. There may be circumstances where this is not possible.

4 Why go to RAMP • Access to a range of professionals. ie police, GP, drug and alcohol services and NHS To consider a variety of options for supporting individuals Identification of risk at an earlier opportunity Improved outcomes for the adult with care and support needs. Create wider understanding of the nature of care and support needs in Bucks

5 Individuals who are experiencing abuse or neglect and meets the threshold for Care Act safeguarding.
However, neglect can occur whilst an individual has capacity to that neglect. Executive function issues. Bucks Safeguarding Adult Board (BSAB) advice that a broad interpretation of neglect therefore real examples – drug and alcohol issues, sexual behaviour, hoarding, financial abuse etc.

6 Considerations No immediate protective or protection actions are required. Eg arrest or Mental Health Act 1983, S136 Where usual case management has had limited or no effect. Increased level of supervision for allocated worker.
