Coiling a Rope

2. the standards to be used in tying the finished coil.
A Measure off an amount of rope equal to approximately three times the distance between
the standards to be used in tying the finished coil.

3. B Starting with this point measured at one of the standards, wrap the rope around the standards, forming the loops and moving toward you until you have nine to twelve loops on the standards. Then form a second layer on top of the first, moving away from you. Continue in this manner until approximately twice the amount measured off in step 1 remains.

4. C Begin wrapping this remaining rope around the coils that you formed in step 2. Finish these wraps off with a clove hitch.

5. D Utilizing the rope measured off in step 1, form a bight leaving the loose end of the rope coming out toward you. Feed the bight from the back side to the front side on the wraps. You should now have the loose end and the bight sticking out toward you.

6. E Place the loose end through the bight and adjust the bight until it is snug where it passes through
the bight.
