3 Comparison of Download Times of “The Matrix” DVD
To put the speed of what we’re talking about in context here, over a typical 56 kbps dialup connection, it would take 171 hours to download the DVD “The Matrix”. Over a slightly higher traditional ISDN connection, it would take almost 75 hours. Using DSL or a cable modem, it takes 25 hours. And, over a T-1, it still would take 6.37 hours. But, over Interent2, it takes 30 seconds. This difference in speeds becomes pretty meaningful when you consider advanced applications like remote instrumentation, remote surgery, virtual consultations and diagnosis, and even real time foreign exchanges which require no delay or degradation of audio or video to be effective.
