2 MSBA Conference Welcome to the MSHSL Presentation. Thank you for all that you do to support students, educators, administrators and families throughout Minnesota!

3 What is the MSHSL? The Minnesota High School League is a….
Private, Non-Profit, Voluntary Association of Member Schools, Governed by the Representative Assembly and the Board of Directors

4 Who is the MSHSL? The Minnesota High School League is….
Staff, Board, and Committee Members, Students, Coaches, and Administrators, School Board Members and Parents, Everyone connected to our member schools.

5 Mission and Beliefs The Minnesota High School League provides opportunities for students through interscholastic athletic and fine arts programs and provides leadership and support for member schools.

8 MSHSL Staff Provide Support
Staff members regularly communicate with schools. Interpret Bylaws and Policies Answer questions and provide advice Provide training for administrators

9 Transfer and Eligibility
Most frequently questioned and applied bylaw If a student transfers schools, we rely on bylaws and policies to grant varsity eligibility. Cannot gain eligibility through a transfer. Multiple layers of review.

10 Proposed Amendments One Year of Varsity Ineligibility From the Most Recent Move (eliminate consecutive one year ineligibilities for multiple transfers) Foreign Students – Grant additional years of eligibility at junior varsity or lower. Separated (but never married) Parents – treated similar to divorce.
