2 Because of turmoil in North and South Vietnam, the Khmer Rouge started gain power over the reining Cambodian Army. Pol Pot the leader of Khmer Rouge used the turmoil to his advantage to defeat Lon Nol’s forces. Pol Pot brought hope to the turmoil of Cambodia How it all Started

3 The Khmer Rouge was a group that went against the Pro-West group led by Lon Nol
The Khmer Rouge decided to punish all of the people who had been “tainted” by the United States The Khmer Rouge harshly punished every Cambodian who was seen to be “tainted” The Khmer Rouge

5 The number of killing fields is not known but the number of deaths for the single genocide was 3,314,768 deaths Pol Pot, the leader of the Khmer Rouge, believed he never did anything wrong because he was “helping his country men” Many killing fields in Cambodia have still not been found The killing Fields

Pol Pot started to lose his mind late into the end of his rein of terror When his mind began to go so did he rain of the country of Cambodia People started to force him out of office The beginning of the end

7 People were seen as animals, and were slaughtered as such
