The 5 Domains of Reading The five domains of reading are the five components that all of us must master to become great readers. Phonemic Awareness Phonics Vocabulary Fluency Comprehension

Accelerated Reading (AR) Tips & Reminders
AR Books should be brought to school each day and taken home each day. Your child will need to score 80% or better to receive credit for the book. They can not retake any AR test. Students can take up to 2 tests per day. Students can take tests on books that they have at home. You can check to see if it is an AR book at Parents can use the Renaissance Home Connect to check their child’s scores and AR progress. The High Bar Reading Challenge for the school has a goal of 50 points for 1st grade students. Students should earn at least points every 9 weeks in order to achieve this goal. The end of the 1st 9 weeks is October 6th.

Standards Based Grading
0= Critical Needs: Students are not making progress towards meeting the standard 1= Emerging: Students require additional support and interventions to achieve the standard 2= Progressing: Students are making progress towards but have not met the standard 3= Meets: Students have met the expected goal 4= Exceeds: Students are beyond the expected level at that point in time relative to the standard
