Who was not allowed to play? Women Sports played in first Olympics? Wrestling, track and field.

5 Art Types of Greek Art? Sculpture and Vases Sculptures made of marble.
Greek art portrays the human figure as: Ideal beauty, godlike qualities, naked form, fluid (movement).

6 Mathematics What math formulas were invented by Greeks?
Pythagorean Theorem- find the sides of a right triangle. Pi is used to find the circumference of a circle. What were formulas used for?- to build stronger and bigger buildings.

7 Government What type of gov’t did the Greeks develop? Democracy Who has the power and how do they prove this? People have the power to vote on laws and actions. -Pericles known for extending democracy and power to vote to more Greeks.

8 Theatre Theater and drama originally begin as a way to celebrate the Gods. -Comedies and tragedies were earliest genres of Greek theater Who were the actors? All played by men.

9 Philosophy “The unexamined life is not worth living.” ---Socrates
“To know, is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge.” ---Socrates Socratic Method- learn and teach through questioning Plato -examined what an ideal life and country should look like.
