5 CHILDREN’S FEELINGS Children often act out their feelings because they can’t put them into words. Being able to put yourself in your child’s shoes helps you to understand your child’s behaviour. 3.5

9 GETTING ALONGSIDE Building a good relationship with your child is the key to them listening to you! 3.9

10 REFLECTION We have considered how children often express their feelings through their behaviour. We have discussed some positive things we could say to our children. We have thought about how to recognise our children’s feelings and how to help them express them. 3.10

11 REFLECTION We have done a role play on listening and then looked at tips for listening well. We have discussed ways to spend time with our children so that we can build our relationship with them in a positive way. 3.11

12 FOCUS FOR THE WEEK Take opportunities to listen to your child at the end of the school day or at the end of the day when you put them to bed. Try to create time this week with each of your children. Maybe ask them what they would like to do. 3.12

13 NEXT WEEK Next week we will be looking at boundaries and parenting styles. 3.13
