The need:
Cincom’s engineering team uses open source products as part of its software development process. However, Cincom’s customers prefer licensed products for security as well as support reasons. As a result, Cincom develops using open source, and the actual deployment is done on licensed software. This can cause inconsistencies between the user experience in the development environment and the customer experience.
The solution:
An IBM Premier Business Partner, Cincom accepted an IBM offer to participate in an evaluation of WebSphere Application Server 8.5 Liberty Profile. Cincom discovered that the Liberty profile offers a lightweight, “next to nothing” 40 MB footprint and fast correction of errors, which reduced development cycles significantly.

In its 44 years, the company has developed dozens of software products, among them Cincom Synchrony, a contact center and unified desktop solution that guides smarter interactions with customers and improves operational efficiency. Today Cincom is still primarily a software product development firm with 700 employees in 23 offices in 16 countries worldwide.
The need
Cincom’s Synchrony engineering team uses open source products as part of its development process. However, Cincom’s customers, particularly in the financial services, energy and healthcare sectors, prefer licensed products for security as well as support reasons. As a result, Cincom usually develops using open source and deploys into the licensed product environment.
