2 Focus Standard ELAGSE8L4: Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words or phrases based on grade 8 reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies. What are we focusing on today? What are we going to do?

3 Narrative Vocabulary- Children’s Book
No Negative Space! Narrative Vocabulary- Children’s Book Get a children’s book and a piece of mini- poster paper. Read the book together with your group. Identify the following in your LA Journal- Setting, Protagonist, Antagonist, Major Conflict, Rising Action, Climax, and Resolution. Explain the theme of the story, citing the development through either setting, characters, or the plot. When you finished identifying the various parts of a narrative, create a poster relaying the information. Poster Should Have the Following: Your name and period. The book title, author, and artist. Narrative Vocabulary presented. Explanation of the Theme of the text. Multi-media- text and images. Group 3- determine three different changes that could be done to the children’s book structure that would better the story. Make solid judgements and support them.

Get back into groups. Finish your work. Be prepared to share one aspect of your book and narrative structure that you like.

5 Reading Practice Reading Passage- Citing Textual Evidence review.
Use the UNWRAP strategy. When done, bring to me and get a BCR- read the passage and respond citing textual evidence.
