October 29th-November 2nd , 2018
Mrs. Jensen’s News October 29th-November 2nd , 2018 We are learning! Our story this week was Plaidypus Lost. We talked about the setting, characters and sequencing (first, next, last). We reviewed the letters Oo-Ss and the sounds they make. We talked about words that start with those letters, discussed who has these letters in their first &/or last name and worked on our iPads. We read Little Me! & The Little Toys. Our sight words were: the, little, is, in, said. We practiced rhyming words and learned about syllables. We clapped the syllables in our names and in words with a Jack Hartmann song. (We use a lot of his music to reinforce our learning. Check him out on YouTube.) In math, we focused on ordering and matching numerals and dot cards from 1 to 10. We also worked on stating a number and adding 1 more to it. (“I have 8. One more is 9.”) We are continuing to count back from 15. Each month your child will bring home their journal. It is their GIFT to YOU! Please be sure to sit down with your child and look at all their entries. *** Ask your child about their WRITING MUSCLES (STAMINA)! Our Fall Party Day was a blast! I hope you heard all about it. Important Dates Nov. 5th – No School/Staff Day Nov. 14th – Early 1:20 Nov rd – Thanksgiving break Homework Practice recognizing and writing the letters and talk about the sounds they make and words that start with them. Practice the sight words and read the little reader that comes home weekly. Remind your child to point to the words as they read. Encourage your child to write sentences using the sight words.
