Land Is about the size of Oregon Is made up of 4 separate regions

The Economy Over 250 years ago, they started the Industrial Revolution. They are still a world leader in industry and trading

The Economy Exports: Manufactured goods & machinery, as well as, computer and electronics are all major exports. Imports: They must bring in natural resources and over 1/3 of all their food. Why must they import so much food? Lack of farmland and limited growing season.

How does it work? Voters elect representatives in Parliament What do they call their two houses? House of Lords House of Commons

Northern Ireland Northern counties were home to many British Protestants that remain loyal to United Kingdom. Southern counties won their independence from Britain in 1921 and became the “Republic of Ireland”

The Economy Potatoes, barley, wheat, sugar beats and turnips are all major crops. Manufacturing is a major provider for the economy.

Speak Gaelic & English (Irish dialect) 58% live in cities/towns (not as urbanized as UK) 1/3 live in Dublin, which is the capital Irish dance and music are still performed around the world today
