1 ALL ABOUT EVE

2 Eve (the mother of all living) must have been a creature of unsurpassed beauty. She was the crown and the pinnacle of God's amazing creative work, the last living thing to be called into existence — actually fashioned directly by the Creator's own hand in a way that showed particular care and attention to detail.

3 Adam was refined dirt; Eve was a glorious refinement of humanity itself. She was Adam's necessary partner who finally made his existence complete — and whose own existence finally signaled the completion of all creation.

4 I. HER CREATION

5 1) She Came Out of Adam’s Loneliness
Gen. 2:18-20, “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.  And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them:

6 and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.  And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.”

7 2) She Came Out of God’s Labor
Gen. 2:21, 22, “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.”

8 II. HER CAUSATION

9 Causation is defined as “the relationship between an event or situation and a possible reason or cause.”

10 In others words, why was Eve created?
(1) She was made to be a HELPMEET for Adam!

11 “I will make him an help meet for him.”
What the verse actually says is that God created a “help” for Adam, and this helper was “meet” (suitable, fit, proper) for him. Through the years the phrase help meet morphed into a single word, helpmeet, which is sometimes used as a synonym for helpmate, meaning “spouse” or “companion.” Modern translations render the phrase in Gen. 2:18 as “a helper fit for him” (ESV); “a helper suitable for him” (NIV and NASB); or “a helper comparable to him” (NKJV).

12 (2) She Was Made To Be Married To Him
Gen. 2:24, 25, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”

13 God performed this first ceremony!
Gen. 2:22, “And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.”

14 It is interesting to note that Eve was never given a name until after the fall.
Gen. 3:20, “And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.”

15 We see Eve as a Companion!
We see Eve as a Confidant! We see Eve as a Complement to Adam!

16 III. HER CHARACTER

17 1) Easy To Be Deceived Gen. 3:1-5, “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

18 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

19 “And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression” (1 Tim. 2:14).

20 Could there have been communication with all the different beasts in the garden?
Adam and Eve were not shocked at a talking serpent!

21 Not A Complex Deception
Gen. 3:4, “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.” Satan changed the destiny of man with just ONE WORD! One simple lie!

22 2) Blinded By Her Desire Gen. 3:5-6, “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”

23 Temptation Is All About Desire!
1 Jn. 2:16, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh (a tree to be desired) , and the lust of the eyes (pleasant to the eyes) , and the pride of life (ye shall be as gods), is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

24 Desire Can Be A Dangerous Thing
Psa. 10:3, “For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.” Psa. 112:10, “The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.”

25 Eccl. 6:2, “A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.”

26 3) Note Adam’s Denouncement!
Gen. 3:9-12, “And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?  And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

27 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?  And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.”

28 He blamed God, “The woman whom thou gavest!”
He blamed the woman, “She gave me of the tree!”

29 The emphasis of 1 Tim. 2:14 is that ADAM WAS NOT DECEIVED!
Adam was not an observer… HE WAS A PARTICIPANT!!!!

30 Conclusion Through Eve sin had entered the world. Yet let us not forget that it would be through a woman that a savior would be sent to reconcile man back to God! “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Gen. 3:15).
