Observe how much 4 liters is – almost a whole gallon jug!
HYPOTHESIS: If I exhale, then I predict I can blow ______ liters.

7. Make a giant blow-out! Your group will use a liter ruler to measure
and mark a giant plastic tube, like a party blowout!
Then attach a plastic ring with tape to the blowout.
Each person should put their own rolled up cardboard mouthpiece into the plastic tube.
Blow as much air out as you can!
Watch to see how far the giant tube fills with air. Measure it and record it in the chart.

9. Calibrating the giant tube
Put the liter ruler at the sealed end of the tube.
This end is 6 liters.
Mark (with a sharpie) each interval going down from 6 L to 5 L.
Scoot the ruler down and repeat, until you are at zero.

14. Cut off the extra bit, but leave enough to tape on a plastic ring.
Seal tight with masking tape!

15. Each person gets two turns to blow
Average exhale = trial 1 + trial 2,
then divide by 2.
