3 Hinduism is one of the oldest polytheistic religions in the world.

4 Hinduism has no single founder, but developed out of cultural diffusion in the Indian subcontinent.

5 Hindus believe in one unifying spirit called Brahman and worship many gods related to Brahman.
Symbol for Brahman Brahma, the Hindu God of Creation Vishnu, the Hindu God of Protection Shiva, the Hindu God of Destruction

6 In order for people to be unified with Brahman and achieve salvation, they must free themselves from selfish desires.

7 A person’s soul must be reborn (reincarnated) into another body over many lifetimes, in order to be unified with Brahman.

8 A soul gets closer to Brahman by being reborn into a higher social group (caste) that is part of the caste system. ----

9 Living a good life and having good karma can help a soul move up the caste system when it is reborn.

11 The Outcasts or Untouchables:
Considered to be unclean for working in jobs that involve cleaning streets, bathrooms, etc. or working with animal carcasses (specifically cows), they are not allowed into the caste system

12 Hindus read sacred texts, such as the Upanishads and the Vedas, to give them guidance.
