Architect: Douglas Cardinal; Polshek Partnership Completed: 2004 Style: Expressionist The building incorporates nature throughout the design, representing a block carved by wind and water. The building faces east, toward the rising sun. Our first introduction to the 3D Building Information Model Was on the National Museum of the American Indian. It helped promote the possible use of visualization as Communication tool, combined with all the features of Interoperability of multiple data sources. However, it was a bit early, as the various standards and Software required further development to allow implementation Without being on the “bleeding” edge.

Comprehensive Facilities Development Plan Our A/E contractors are also using the latest technology by combining data sources such as: Google Earth city models; GIS data from Washington DC GIS Consortium Space Classification and Architectural Records from our own Geospatial Engineering Division And pulling together a 3D BIMwhich serves as a great Programming and communication tool for both the American History Facilities development plan and the Building renovation centered around the new Star Spangled Banner exhibit.
