5 Practices Track Pictures will be Wednesday April 11, 2018
Practice Time 3:15pm-4:45pm Report to gym before 3:15 (PUSH-UPS AFTER) PLEASE PICKUP AT 4:45!! 6 Meet Day Routine Away Meets Home Meets
Students are called down to the cafeteria(most times before end of the day) Wear uniform to school to save time Grab all track equipment Load the bus and roll will be taken On our way back to school, we will inform students of estimated time of arrival for RIDES TO BE AT SCHOOL! Home Meets Change right after bell rings and meet in the gymnasium for attendance Grab track equipment, and head to the track to set up camp and warmup During 4x400 Race everyone should be calling for rides. We will try our best to SEND REMIND 101 to all parents that are signed up. NO leaving until the end of the meet!!!

To your coaches To your teammates To your teachers To your parents ATTENDANCE 1-2 unexcused absences will result in missing meets 3rd unexcused absent will result in DISMISSAL FROM THE TEAM Doctor notes must be brought in for excused medical absences. GIVE 100% EFFORT Always try your best Make others around you better Distance Runners- Never Run Alone!!

8 Types of Meets Open Meet 6th Grade Invites Invitational Meets
Every athlete will participate in events of their interest All Home meets are OPEN MEETS to see your athlete perform 6th Grade Invites ONLY 6th graders go to this meet 7th-8th graders will have another Meet or Practice Invitational Meets We are only allowed to enter TOP 2 for each event. Have to choose from all 6th, 7th, 8th grade the top times or distance for each event from our team to go to the meet. Those athletes not attending the invitational meet will have that day OFF.

Receives Peanut Butter Cup (PB) If allergic to peanut please inform one of the coaches Dress Up Day Every WEDNESDAY Examples – twin day/ White out day / Rainbow Day / Grade level Day Athlete of the Week Best Male and Best Female Athlete of the Week.

13 Eligibility Remember you are a STUDENT FIRST!
Do your work and make sure it gets turned in on time. Track will never be an excuse for not completing your assignments. 1 F = ineligible for that week Monday- Sunday. You are still expected to practice with the team, but you may not participate in any meets that week. Continued ineligibility may result in dismissal from the track and field team.

14 Meets/Bus Rides Meets Bus
When we participate in meets, either home or away, we are there as a team and leave as a team. At away meets we will NOT release you to anyone except your parents, and they must sign you out after the meet is over. No one may leave home meets until the meet is completely over and roll is taken by a coach or stats person- NO EXCEPTIONS Bus Everyone MUST ride the bus to the meet Show respect No one can leave the bus until it is clean No standing or moving around on the bus

State Qualifiers SMS qualified 17 athlete to the State meet last year (2017) Returning: Emalie Mosher ,Nikki Strawn, Molly Roberts, Audrey Rome, Gracie Pehlke, Johnny Rizzuto, Ali Todd, Cody Peterson School Records 13 School Records 6 Record Holders Returning Emalie Mosher ,Nikki Strawn, Molly Roberts, Audrey Rome, Gracie Pehlke, Ali Todd State Placers Claire Roberts – 400M – 7th Place Jayden McCulskie – High Jump – 3rd Place

16 Track Events We want you to try different events and see what you like. We will sometimes suggest which event you will be good at. Distance Events 800 Meters – 2 laps around the track (Require Speed and Endurance) 1600 Meters – 4 laps around the track (Require Endurance and Speed) Sprint Events 100 – 1 straight away on the track (Requires Speed) 200 Meters – 1 curve and a straightaway (Requires Speed) 400 Meters – 1 full lap on the track (Requires Speed and some Endurance) 100/110 Hurdles – 1 straightway with jumping over hurdles (Speed) All Requires Starting Blocks

17 Track Events Sprint Relays Field Events
4x100 Relay – 4 Athletes sprint 100 meters by passing the baton 4x200 Relay – 4 Athletes sprint 200 meters (half a lap) by passing the baton 4x400 Relay – 4 Athletes sprint 400 meters (1 full lap) by passing the baton Field Events Throws Shot Put Discus Jumps High Jump – Jumping over a Long Jump Pole Vault (No Coach)
