5 Meetings and Absences As a member of the BWHS Key Club you are expected to attend all monthly meetings. Meetings are generally held on the last Wednesday of each month in the BWHS auditorium starting at 8:30 AM. All monthly meeting dates for the school year have been posted on our website, so make sure to write them down or add them to your calendar. You are only allowed 3 total absences for the entire school year. If you have a reasonable excuse for missing a meeting, please us beforehand. Meetings start promptly at 8:30 AM. Please arrive on time! If you arrive late you will not be checked in and it will count as an absence.

6 Meetings and Absences We will be using EventBrite to check in for the monthly meetings. The link will be sent out via Remind before each meeting, it will also be available on our website. Please register on EventBrite before arriving at the meeting to make the check in process easier! Meeting attendance will be updated following each monthly meeting and will be posted on our website under the Hours/Attendance tab. If you have any questions or concerns about your attendance please ask as soon as possible.

7 YOU DO NOT NEED TO TURN IN HOURS EVERY MONTH
Hours Requirement To be considered a member of the BWHS Key Club you must have 40 total service hours by the end of the school year, at least 15 of these must be in-club service hours. In-club hours are any Key Club sponsored or provided activity, including everything that is posted under the events tab on our website. YOU DO NOT NEED TO TURN IN HOURS EVERY MONTH

8 What Counts as Hours? We only accept hours for service work (not, for example, donations outside of Key Club events) We will not accept hours that are part of a school required activity or assignment. Anything done because it is mandatory is not considered volunteering. Anything that you are paid to do is not volunteering. Keep in mind that staff sponsors have the final say as to whether submitted hours meet the definition and spirit of service work Most importantly, remember that if you have any questions as to whether something will count for hours, please ask us in advance More information about what counts as hours can be found on our website

9 What Does Not Count as Hours?
“I walked my neighbor’s dog” “I watched my younger brother while my parents were gone” “I brought in canned foods for a food drive at my church” “I tutored my best friend” “I sold donuts to fundraise for my sports team” More information about what does not count as hours can be found on our website

10 Service Hours All service hours completed during a month must be turned in no later than 4:03 PM the Friday after the monthly meeting. Late hours will not be accepted. All service hours that are completed within a certain month must be turned in by that month’s deadline. Meeting service projects may be provided at select meetings, however be aware that not all meetings will have service projects. Do not rely on the monthly meetings to complete the in-club service hours requirement. Remember the BWHS Key Club Sponsors/Officers hold the right to determine whether or not something counts as volunteer work. If you have any doubts please ask. Hours will be updated following each monthly meeting and will be posted on our website under the Hours/Attendance tab. If you have any questions or concerns about the number of hours posted please ask as soon as possible.

11 Summer and September Hours Deadline for Returning Members
All hours completed anytime between June 2018 and September 28 will be due this Friday, September 28, by 4:03 PM to Ms. Frank in Room 204. Any hours turned in after this date will not be accepted. Please make sure your hours form is filled out completely! Incomplete hours forms will not be accepted.

12 A Note on Volunteering When you sign up to volunteer, please be sure to attend the actual event. If a conflict arises be sure to contact the volunteer coordinator so that they can ensure they have sufficient volunteers. If you are signed up and do not show up you may be depriving someone else of an opportunity to volunteer, not to mention the event may be understaffed. If you signed up for an event using SignUpGenius and you realize that you will not be able attend the event, please remove your name as soon as possible! It may help to put the dates of any events you signed up to volunteer at into a calendar, so that you do not forget. Also when volunteering, please arrive on time to the event, or notify the volunteer coordinator if you know you will be late or if you have to leave early.
