2 Introductions •Mrs. Nemshick - Writing and Science
-12 years of teaching in fifth grade at PV •Miss George - Reading/Social Studies -27 years of teaching in Red Lion •Mr. Overmiller - Math -15 years of teaching, 9 years in Red Lion •Mrs. Tome - Learning Support

3 Sign-Up •Clearances must be current and on file at the Education Center. •Volunteering in the classroom. •Field Trip - Signing up displays interest and is not a commitment, at this time. •Junior Achievement- The sign-up sheets are outside homeroom doors.

4 *Click on Family Access
Skyward Skyward is our new attendance and gradebook resource. It replaces EdLine. Use the website: *Parents access Skyward using the district webpage under the Parents tab. *Click on Family Access IF you don’t know you log-in for your child or have any questions...please ask Teresa Yakubowski (Secretary). Please regularly check your child’s grades. Your communication and involvement are critical to your student’s ability to maximize his/her academic potential.

5 Important District Changes
Progress Reports are issued at the end of the 1st and 3rd Marking Periods. Report Cards are issued at the end of the 2nd and 4th Marking Periods. Skyward The district calendar may be found online; hard copies will not be provided.

6 Materials •Students will be provided everything they need to be successful! •Take Home Folders-check nightly; clean out regularly •Agendas/Planner Sheets •Binders are completely up to you and your child. •Online textbooks are available for math, science, and social studies. Students will be shown how to access them during school. Informational letters will be provided.

7 Classroom Expectations
Come to class prepared Have all necessary materials ready before instruction begins Quick and quiet transitions School PRIDE program Homework must be completed before arriving to class Organization is a MUST! *When students follow the classroom expectations they will receive a PRIDE ticket and/or a classroom ticket. Periodically they will be able to cash them in for an incentive.

8 Punctual Attendance is Imperative
Absences - a paper listing your child’s assignments will be completed the day of the absence(s) and placed in your child’s mailbox in his or her homeroom Advanced communication regarding absences helps us prepare for the missed time. Educational Trip Forms may be obtained in the office Excuse Blanks must be returned within three days of absence

9 Need to Know Dates First Day of School-Tuesday, August 22nd
No School - Monday, September 4th (Labor Day) No School – Monday, October 9th (Columbus Day) Glow Run-Friday, October 13th from 6-8PM Tuesday, October 24th- 2 hour delay October 26th-End of the 1st marking period Conferences - Thursday, 11/16 (5-8PM) - Monday, 11/20 (8AM-4PM & 5-8PM) - Tuesday, 11/21 (8AM-12PM) No School Monday, 11/20 thru Monday, 11/27

10 Before You Leave Tonight
•In the hallway, by your child’s homeroom is a table. •Take the folder with your child’s name. •Inside the folder are the important back to school papers that you need to fill out, sign, and return. •Make sure that you check the front and back of each paper. •Please return the papers in that folder with your student on the first day of school.

11 Pop into Reading •Visit the library to meet Mrs. Livingston, Reading Specialist, and receive information about our Reading team at PV! •Enjoy the popcorn!
